Rodzaiah Curtis served as the 36th Secretary of the KCHS BPA, leaving an indelible mark on the organization through his tireless efforts and unwavering commitment. As a senior, this was his first year being part of the BPA organization, and he quickly made a positive impact.
Rodzaiah achieved first place in the Website Design team and fourth place in Business Law and Ethics at the regionals in December 2023. His success in these competitions demonstrated his exceptional talent and dedication. Prior to becoming Secretary, he served as Co-Sub Official, Representative, and Chapter Manager, showcasing his leadership skills and commitment to the organization. Before joining BPA, he was the Junior Class President in 2022, where his leadership qualities were already evident.
As Secretary at Kirtland Central High School, Rodzaiah was passionate about making a difference in the lives of his fellow BPA students. He was also a proud member of Business Professionals of America, where he honed his leadership skills and developed a passion for public service. Rodzaiah was committed to building a brighter future for all BPA students, knowing that this would require hard work, dedication, and a willingness to listen to the concerns of others. He was excited to work with others to make a real difference in the community.
During his term in office, Rodzaiah successfully sponsored and passed three significant bills: the Travel Criteria Act, the BPA Membership Safety Act, and the Protect Confidential Information Act. He established the BPA Headquarters office for meetings and events on campus, launched the official website for KCHS BPA, and completed and filed paperwork for the 2023-2024 KCHS BPA bylaws. Additionally, he designed the KCHS BPA flag and developed timesheets for officers and wrote scripts for chapter meetings.
Rodzaiah created agendas for planned meetings and monthly calendars, established and led seven successful committees (Food and Beverages, Flag Design, Daily Announcements, Festivals of Tree, Concession Stand, Schedules and Attendance, and Halloween Candy Gram), and created permission slips, grade checks, and officer name tags. He also wrote daily announcements, motivated members, managed absent request forms, membership cards, and inventory, invited Navajo Nation delegates and New Mexico State BPA officers, and designed and printed documents, including probation papers and the President’s Daily Brief.
In addition to his leadership roles, Rodzaiah actively represented KCHS at state and national BPA conferences, where he learned from and networked with top professionals in the field. He worked closely with his fellow representatives to plan and execute various community service projects and fundraising events. These experiences taught him the importance of teamwork, communication, and dedication in achieving their goals.
Rodzaiah Curtis's tenure as Secretary was marked by a series of notable achievements that contributed to the growth and success of the KCHS BPA chapter. His leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact on the organization and its members, setting a high standard for future leaders to follow.
